Our Process
The typical steps George Guthrie Construction take during the construction of a new home:
- Resource consent (only if required)
- Plans and talking with an architect / draftsperson
- Site observation
- Cost estimate by GGC to suppliers
- Contract signing
- Building consent – sign off by council
- Health and safety
- Site prep and pour foundation
- Internal and external material decisions to be confirmed – doors, hardware, heating, fittings etc. Needs to be discussed with architect
- Framing and trusses
- Roof install and rainwater system
- Window and door installation
- Exterior finishes/cladding + joinery
- Electrical and Plumbing work
- Insulation
- Lining and Internal stopping
- Skirting and architraves
- Painting
- Installation of all hard fittings – cabinets, vanities, kitchen, mirrors, shower doors etc.
- Finish electrical and plumbing work
- Water mains and electrical hooked up

For each new client, George Guthrie Construction (GGC) offer two hours of one of Marlborough’s leading Interior Designer expertise – Jenny Saggers from Collaborate.
Collaborate offer a full interior design service for residential and commercial projects. They work closely with the client to help them understand materials, products, colours etc. and cover specific aspects of creating a warm, inviting modern home that reflects how the client likes to live.
The key aspects covered in the two hour consultation with Collaborate will be discussed during the initial meeting with GGC
